When I imagine this animation, I picture it taking the same amount of time to hit the ground, or very close to it depending on how high up in the air you are. The only convenience it would bring is that you can cast the med in mid air too, as opposed to only when you're standing. Plus it would make sense. If I jump in the air and want to throw a med, I should be able to. If I'm able to throw grenades in mid air (which go in the same item slots as meds), I should be able to throw meds too.
I also don't see how it interferes with "skill" either. If anything, if you're able to stop shooting and stop defending yourself, throw a med, and not get dropped by the other player after all the time you just wasted, that sounds pretty skilled to me lol.
