Don't play for ranks, it's retarded to do so, this isn't a competitive game (actually you are just competing with yourself) unless you somehow manage to make yourself delusional into thinking so. Play for fun, not for rank.

I play rank so ill be satisfied of my progress and gauge my general position, but yeah... its a letdown currently. ill replay my old beatmaps when im feeling better

if you want rank fast you can just farm DT-only plays and pretend you made progress
but caution! your reading skills will be shit, same with your aim, unstable rate and accuracy compared to peole who's lower rank than you, you don't need any effort with DT-only
