Lol dude that's not what I was imagining. What I imagine is that anything can be entertaining if you put yourself in another position without letting modern society overshadow the talent and effort put into certain art.
Of course I'm not aware, simply because I don't speak Japanese lol so it doesn't bother me. The character art doesn't bother me either because that's just how it was back in the days. For me it's like comparing Hip-Hop group Run-DMC to today's Jedi Mind Tricks. (Sorry for the silly comparison) The beats and rhymes in the 80's were less developed, but it is still equally entertaining if you consider how great it must've been back then. I'm not saying we should live in the past, I'm just saying all art can be good regardless of time. I'm an art student and we learn how concepts are some of the most important things whether it's nicely drawn or not, I guess maybe that's why I don't care if it's not visually appealing. I understand pretty well if you don't like old styles. :-)
As I said, "I don't know why I get pissed" it's just something inside me lol I also like the new styles better, but I respect the old school, it's part of my life style.
Note that my comment wasn't directed towards you in particular but just modern society.
I understand that it wasn't directly pointed at me, but I felt as if I should say why we people in the "modern society" do that.
K so I have a few problems with your point of view:
1) Seems as if you barely even watch anime. When I say barely I mean hardly, meaning, 1-10 anime total.
2) You're speaking as if you've never seen something you disliked.
3) Someone who doesn't care about something being visually appealing has no right to even speak on the matter of someone being unsatisfied with how the character art style is, therefore, you should not get annoyed when people say they want to watch something from this generation.
4) I did not say I disliked the character art style from the old days, I just find a whole lot of them annoying because of how well made the modern ones are. As I stated before, I have watched old anime, for example: Yu Yu Hakusho, Rurouni Kenshin, Great Teach Onizuka, etc; all of which I have watched in the last couple of months and all of which were made in the late 90's.
Now here is one example of shit voice acting (I'll be doing it in english so you can understand):
I'm going to kill you! ............................ 5 seconds after the person says that, the other person says .............................. What?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
The response time in anime now-a-days are more faster than those that were made in the old days.
You compare the art styles to that of two hip hop bands. The amount of evolution that has happened is beyond comparison.

I can imagine you know lots of more anime than me since it's not an obsession or whatever for me, I'm interested in many, many things so I can't just focus on one too much.
I have watched lots of them, much more than you guessed, but didn't complete many.
But from what I've seen from anime like Lupin III, Mobile Suit Gundam, Fist of the North Star or of course Dragon Ball there's like nothing wrong with it lol or maybe that's just me. And of course I've seen things I dislike, but not in age but in the things that make sense for example if I dislike a Lil Wayne song I won't say it sucks because Wayne has a shitty voice but I'll be talking about the lyrics, flow, wordplay, punchlines etc.
Perhaps you didn't get the visually appealing part, with that I mean I don't care between the difference with analog and digital art. Sure, it looks nicer but as we're always taught, looks aren't everything and an old classic can still be superior in terms of skills and entertainment.
Note that I'm not suggesting your taste sucks or whatever, it's just as I said, I'm simply trying to point out that it can't be judged by time and I was simply stating that it pisses me off sometimes. That's ALL. Not saying that YOU piss me off.
I didn't come here to say "hey go suck some D's if you don't watch old anime" I just came to find out what you think and now, for that I can thank you.
But just wondering, what exactly is "old" for you? I mean when you just said GTO I kinda half-freaked out, around the 2000's seems pretty new to me.
Death Note is my favorite anime by the way. In terms of animation, plot, character development, concept, drawing etc. Again, note I ALSO like the newer stuff more than the old, but I don't dislike the old stuff, I just fail to see negativity in it for when it was made. I like the newer stuff simply because it portrays my surroundings better: school life, references, love, technology, etc.
@Wucas I just made that comparison because it describes modern society enough. An old rap or rock song is "old trash" while a dubstep song is "new and cool" even when the old ones were revolutionary and the source of modern music.
I could also just compare it with new and old movies. I watched Nosferatu recently, and when I tell my friends how awesome it actually is (even though there's like no voice acting in it) they start laughing lol I'm not saying I'm disrespecting their opinion but it just happened so many times that it naturally pisses me off now. Not in a very negative way.
Well I gave my opinion and you gave yours, what's left is, now we know that we cannot come to an understanding about it.
And GTO was made in 1999-2000, we are now in 2013, so it's safe to say it was made more than a decade ago. But it was still very good, and even with the old art style and the old voice acting and response time it was still very appealing, I gave it a 9/10. And I gave Yu Yu Hakusho a 10/10. When I grade anime I keep in mind of the time they were made btw, because tbh, if I was to grade Yu Yu Hakusho, Rurouni Kenshin and GTO grades that were lower because of now-a-days anime, it would be totally unfair seeing as how they were made a long time ago and they were used as the stepping stones for anime to reach where they are atm.
Spoiler!
does naruto ever find all of the dragon balls?
Okay, so bashy already gave me some anime to chew on a while back, but I've gone trough most of it.
So far I've watched the following:
Avatar - the last airbender
Avatar - the legend of korra
Bleach
Ao no exorcist
Sword art online
Full metal brotherhood (almost done)
Death note (watching)
Mirai nikki
I like the supernatural kind of anime, from the list above I enjoyed Bleach/avatar the most. Mainly because the fighting is better, for example; the fighting in brotherhood is kind of pussy, I like it a bit gore and the killing as well, in these ed doesn't even kill (not yet at least). I also like the kind where the main character learns his power as the series go on, that they really get stronger. In bleach that evolves pretty good, its getting a little odd in the later part of the series.
As for humor, I really get irritated if there is a lot of humor in the series, full metal had a lot of those in the beginning.
Give me some tips for good animes, that contain supernatural, preferably sword fighting.

And I agree, if you want some gruesome shit to watch, watch Hellsing Ultimate. That shit was epic as ****!

Hey there!
I've missed on a little bit. I was away for a while, but now I'm back. Since I missed on lots of stuff, I will be putting up animes I liked // would suggest to peoples, followed with short descriptions or whatever i feel like putting. That was everybody can find their own little something.
Akagi -
Anime about Mahjong, Pretty awesome. Do not get scared by the art style, you will actually end up liking it.
Kaichi -
Same Author as Akagi, it doesn't require watching any video on (in akagi's instance, mahjong) a particular subject. Easily one of the best you can find around there. Revolves around gambling and hard life. Both seasons are must-watch in my opinion. The art style looks somewhat the same, maybe with a few improvements.
Hikaru no Go -
This one's about the game called "Go" can't be simplier to understand, but also one of the most complex games of all time. Really really good, it actually even started a Go vibe at some point. Even if you don't think you'd like it, give it a try. The first episode might look meh or good, depending on what you're looking for. But after 2-3 episodes you should really get hooked. It goes on for years, not keeping you stranded in a short slice of time. In my must-try list.
Eyeshield 21 -
I don't even know how to got to watch that anime honestly... I do not particularly like watching football (although I enjoy playing it) I never even watched a game to be honest. But somehow i got to watch that anime a few years ago. over 200 episodes, so I guess it had something to keep me hooked. It's adding somewhat of a "Supernatural" feel to football.
No.6 -
A futuristic one, not with flying cars and such, but in a near-post apocalyptic (only a few select cities are remaining). Really great story, interesting till the end.
Kurozuka -
Sword, immortality fighting and deep topics all in one. The art style is really particular. Not everybody's fitted for this one, but definetly worth a try.
K -
Not to be confused with "K On" or any variation, it's about fighting and supernatural powers. Pretty entertaining.
Jyu Oh Sei -
My personnal favorite anime. Finnaly an anime where main character die... Oh yeah, no special right to live. They come they go, and no resurrection either. Loved the ending. It's short though.
Arakawa Under the Bridge -
Pretty nice, it's interesting and very light-hearted. Good when you want to relax or feel good. It's not stressful or... Just very very light but enjoyable.
Ghost in the Shell -
Must see, you're missing on something otherwise, wouldn't want to ruin it.
Serial experiment Lain -
Futuristic classic, it revolves around a girl who discover gets connected to the "Wired" some kind of internet per say. Lots of intrigue, talks with pictures a lot. One of the only animes I know with an original introduction song in english.
Desert Punk -
Fighting anime with humor in between
Eden of the East -
Pretty awesome anime, some thinking and... a particular genrea without being somewhat of an outcast of any kind.
Kenichi, History's strongest disciple -
Fighting anime, as simple as that.
Welcome to the NHK -
Pure awesomeness slice of life kind of thing. Humor drama and everything you'd expect. Really fun. Puru pururin puru puru purururin....
--------------------------
Tv shows:
The Big Bang Theory -
So good, so much amazingness, you can read on it if you want, just type it in google and you will see all the critics talking about it's genius. It really is brilliant.
SERIOUSLY YOUR MISSING ON SOMETHING IF YOU HAVN'T WATCHED IT.
-Jawarisin
@bashy, what kind of anime do you like?
There is just so many animes that have been created in the past month... I'll be blunt but your obsession with being 2012+ really cut you off a lot. And sadly, there is a limited amount of how many animes were made from 2012 up to today.
I could blurt out all the action ones that are quite recent, but I am sure you already know every single of them. There isn't millions.
To give you an idea, you're someone who's asking to experience the whole world without leaving his town. Take a step out, and look around, although there's some stuff you might not like, you will definetly find some stuff to your likings, and probably more than you thought.
-Jawarisin
Toriko! still on-going
Lol if you take a look at my MAL you'll see that I watch old anime. In fact I just finished watching a good old anime named Akagi about a week ago. (Gave it a 7/10)
Anyways, it's either you mix up the genres I want or you mix up the dateline I asked for.
The anime genres I want to watch are Action, Super Power, Supernatural, Adventure, things like that. The timeline I want it to be within is from 2007 upwards. Nowhere have I ever stated that I want to watch anime 2012+. That is your misconception, in fact I clearly stated 2007+ MANY different times in THIS thread.
Also the reason why I stated 2007+ so many times is because I don't like the old anime you recommend. For instance, there was one where a guy made something from a tree or some shit, I don't remember the name of it. And that anime is VERY old. You like to watch old as **** anime then recommend them, I don't like that. I think you should be the one to step out of your town and try the more recent ones. If it was ANYONE else recommending animes for me then I would give them a different timeline, like 2005+, but you like to look for the OLD OLD OLD ones to recommend, thats why I keep stating 2007+.
is Desert Punk worth watching? i saw the description and that really interests me
im not a big anime fan and only watched like 3 animes so far
Akagi's in my previous post up there, you should watch kaiji if you liked it any bit. It's one of the highest rated anime. I saw all the most recent ones (not beast saga nd such though) but I dont intend on talking about them too long since I assumed you looked them up yourself beforehand. 2007+ isn't a wide margin either. I don't want to argue with you, so I'll keep it short :
You are close minded towards animes, and your ego blocks you from seeing it.
Well usually people go for Death Note, Bleach and the such as they start. Desert punk is pretty interesting though, it deals with a young mercenary in a time where the earth's filled with sand (future). He is THE legendary sunabouzu "Sand Demon". But as you go on, you realise that what folk peoples call magic are just some funny tricks. It's not stupid either, it's just staying realistic in some fashion, and that's what makes it funny. In a regular anime, you'd see two peoples shooting at each other and blocking bullets or avoiding them god knows how. In this one, both peoples hide behind rock and shoot at each other until the crowd tires and go away. It does though go around, without being tottaly ecchi, it still has an accent on female sexuality at some point. You can see suggestive pose or what'snot, but that is all integrated in the show, not for fan-service.
I do think Desert Punk is worth watching if that kind of style interests you. I strongly suggest you watch animes with subtitles. There is multiple reasons why subtitles are better. Dubbs are made for kids who can't yet read quickly ennough (there's nothing bad there). If you can read fast ennough, Subtitles really is the thing, it will make your whole experience of the anime much more enjoyable.
Have fun,
-Jawarisin
Not extremely close-minded but I agree to a certain extent. I don't like watching shit art styles so yes.
Also, take a look at my MAL and you will see the different old anime I've watched. Also I disagree, I think 07 - 2013 is a wide margin, yes it could be wider, but it's still a wide margin. That is 6 years apart and about 3-4 seasons of anime stream yearly. Not to mention how much anime get released each season. And as I stated above, if it wasn't you then I would have given the person a 2 year wider margin but I know you like old as **** anime so you would choose the oldest timeline given.
Also I posted here not just for you to give recommendations, but also for other people too.
I wont argue, so I will just say this instead. It's a matter of perseption, today's anime will be "old" in 2019, will it make it any less good? Will your favorite anime be bad because it got older? Looking towards the future might help you visualise it.
-Jawarisin
PS: I don't want to start arguing or trowing insults/ego in here, so let's keep it civilised :)
isekai no seikishi no monogatari? OVA series, each ep is 40-50 mins long. 1st ep is exciting, next 8 is ecchi/harem, then it goes back to action.
Yaoi anime suggestions plz.
boku no pico
No one is throwing insults, unless its you, which I haven't seen yet.
And the anime that will be made in 2019 will more than likely be better, because over time things advance and evolve. And can you stop speaking as if I don't watch old anime, I do, as stated in my last 3-4 posts. Don't believe me; go check my MAL. You still have yet to do so. In 2019, today's anime will still be good, but more than likely the art style, etc, will be more advanced. Just as right now 2011-2013, the art style, effects and creativity are more advanced than it was back in 1995-2000, probably even early 2000.
So here is your misconception: You think I dislike watching old anime mainly because of the plot.
Let me clear that up for you, I DON'T. The main reason I don't like watching old anime is because of the shitty art style, I hate it. Oh and also the delayed voice acting. So in every post you make it seems as if you are trying to say the reason I don't watch a lot of old anime is because the misconception of old anime having a bad plot and being bad overall when it isn't so.
You are being quite narrow-minded on the subject and you should know that I'm a human, thus I have my preferences. And so you do, which I understand and I have kept in mind. That is why I know you lean more towards old anime instead of modern day ones.
And the reason I asked you to recommend anime is because in either this thread or another one you made when you first came back, you said you have watched "a whole lot" (I'm paraphrasing) of anime. So seeing as though you said that I asked. Also, I not only posted for you to recommend as I stated, I also posted for other members of the community to give me recommendations.
Tried it before, didn't really like it. Might try it again though.
try zettai karen children. your MAL shows that youve seen the hyoubu kyousuke adaptation, but the main show is about the 3 girls. hyoubu calls one of them 'queen'.
you can find torrents/download links titled zettai karen children or phsyic squad.
http://www.nyaa.eu/?page=search&cats...0&term=psychic
the first one in the list is 720p, but TVrip (censored). the second one is 480p, but uncensored (DVD).
Well you act just like one of my friends, completely closed to anything you consider old. Creativity is NOT more advanced, it's not something that advance, the art style is different, not more advanced either. Damn we could say Picasso's or Dali's art style is old but they are still some of the best.
I do not lead towards old animes, i lean towards anything good. And to repeat myself, there was more good stuff in the 30 years span of 1980-2010 than 2010-2013. I've seen all the most recent ones, and sadly they cant pool out infinite amount of it. While there is still a huge pool of un-watched ones in the oldies. That's all.
-Jawarisin
PS: Delayed voice acting? you obviously havn't seen a lot of older animes...
PS2: Gunz is an old game with bad graphics, still awesome.
When I start watching an anime I eventually just HAVE to watch all of it. That being said, I'm watching the shittiest anime I've ever seen until now: Ikkitousen.
I do not recommend this to anyone. Some douche told me it had "awesome fighting scenes" in it.
I killed that douche.
Thanks for the suggestion I'll try it.
Makes no sense we talk about this. As I said before I have my own preferences and so do you, so leave it at that. Also, it would be better if you don't add other things and compare the art style to anime (for example what you did with paintings) because if you do that I can completely DEMOLISH your argument and I'm sure you know that. (If not you should)
And can you hop off my **** man. You keep ignoring the fact that I DO watch old anime but I prefer to watch more modern day anime. Everyone of your posts you ignore the part of my sentence that says "I watch old anime" and target the other part that says "I prefer modern anime" then say "you're close-minded and you only like modern anime".
Also, your argument of the timespan of anime is very much invalid. You just compared a timespan of 1980 - 2010 with the timespan of 2010 - 2013. I'm sure you can do math, so I'm sure you can figure out that your argument is very unfair to compare 30 years to 3 years.
Also, yep I've watched my fair share of old anime and I can tell you that not only the graphics are bad, the effects are also bad and sometimes the voice acting is off. Example: "I will kill you" then they have a 5 second delay and say "WHATTTTTTTTT?".
I'd advise you to read carefully, if you read and you don't understand what I said then read it over, if you still don't understand then read it over again. Don't stop until you have read every single word I've said and completely have an understanding of the argument I'm bringing across. This is in no way an insult. It is because I realize you cut off/completely ignored portions of my statements in every post I've made to use it to your advantage in your arguments. Which doesn't make any sense.
Which anime is this:

Someone tell me about "Sword art online", is that a good show?

yes, it's alright. go watch it
SAO was decent until 14, after that it was shit. The only reason I could finish it was because Suguha

I would refer you to page 1, but instead, I will quote myself on that.
They made 2/4 seasons. The next one is, and after that I do not know because I didn't read the title, Getting spoiled one of them was ennough -_-'. You can find it on wikipediaSpoiler!
Btw, Bashy have you tried 'Baccano!' yet? It's a 2007 action/supernatural anime. Started watching it today and it looks pretty good till now.
I'm sure you know it though.

"Bump" To remind everybody that you can still ask here if you need suggestions/information
I wish to askkkk...... is....Beck any good? and is Arata Kangatari any good? I have 47 tabs open on my to-watch anime list and it's laging my comp ;-; so I'm filtering them c:
Honestly, those are some of the animes I didn't watch. Just added beck to my "currently watching in a few hours" list. Not like it's really a list anyways.
As of arata kangari, that's usually not my style, I've seen some of them put out something somewhat decent be it either comedy, absurd or serious, but I personnaly won't watch it. I'd suggest you look up rating and kill those with rating of 1~4 average. Every time I watched one of them, I regretted it.
I won't give you any suggestions since you're already filtering, but really use MaL and look at average rating. anything after 5+ is usually depending on your taste. But 4-...
Sorry about that, I'm not much help for those two, ones of the few i havn't watched
-Jawarisin
are there anime similar to kimi ga nozomu eien/true tears, that doesn't end up with a shitty ending where the protagonist doesn't end up with the skank of the show?
I'm really into drama atm and I can't stand those endings because they both end up with the wrong person.
I had a little drama period recently. If you're looking specifically for drama AND romance, there's not that many good ones, you got the classics(clannad w/e) but I think you've seen those. Itazura no kiss is somewhat a drama, when you look at how it develops.
Suzuka is somewhat the same, a young guy gets captivated by a girl doing jumping, and realises she lives in the apartment next to hers. He confesses his love, but the girl in question stays haunted by some drama that happened in her past; It's entertaining if not the most original, the beginning really looks like some stupid ecchi show. Watch it, but ignore the first episode except the key points. It's NOT an ecchi show neither some perv or w/e. It has the setting for it, but it doesn't exploit it.
I never watched this one, but breezed over it many times, even found it in MaL recommendation with a high rating, so i guess it must be worth it: ef: A Tale of Memories
Any more animes like Rosario to Vampire, I'm aware that it's ranked as shitty anime but honestly I liked that anime a lot.
looking for suggestions ;P
Anyone else having trouble at MAL? Lots of anime titles are replaced by "SSJMaster vs. Xinil - A story of epic battles!" for me, it's odd...
Lol yah mine is doing that as as well
http://puu.sh/48ECZ.png
Shit I got that too. I think someone hacked it or some shit, because for some of the synopsis's it says "Man proposes, SSJMaster disposes". Also SSJMaster sounds like a stupid hacker name, not an anime title.
Lol yea, they most definitely got hacked, all the episodes are 9000 for them.
https://twitter.com/SSJMaster
http://ssjmaster.de/index.php
Yup. They haven't posted on their blog or their twitter in ages, but they are a hacker group so *shrug*.
I hope this shit gets fixed though. It would be really troublesome to have to re-add all my anime on another website. Especially when I love this one more than any other one.
I think the owner of MAL shit talked that guy saying he can't hack his website; that's where "Man proposes, SSJMaster disposes" comes from.
Well here the answer is:
"There was a gore hacker earlier this week. Posting gore pics everywhere with other people's users on forums and stuff. And if you posted on that forum, the hacker gored up your profile comments. He stole people's passwords by creating a fake login. Now he's ******* with the site. Pretty sure the hacker is reffering to himself as SSJMaster, and Xinil is the creator of MAL if you didn't know
And I don't know why but my anime stats dropped by 80 days over night
It pisses me off that the hacker is calling themself SSJMaster cuz they're screwing with DBZ. They're a Chiaotzu compared to an SSJ3"

Karin is probably a little similar. It's a comedy involving a girl vampire. Her problem is she "gives blood" instead of taking it, because she's producing too much of it. She is more of a burden than anything to her family. But one day, at shool,
one of the students see her having a gigantic amount of blood exploding out of her nose because she kept it in for too long. And here to starts.

Any animes like one piece, hunter x hunter 2011, or like fairytail?
Thoughts about Shakugan no Shana, is it worth to watch? I need to know.
also, Tasogare Otome x Amnesia: Taima Otome.
ive seen shakugan s1 about 5 times now.. never been able to finish it. '-'
and amnesia anime is pretty generic, i would recommend the manga if youre interested and pick up the anime afterward
Okay since Jawarisin is banned, who is gonna take care of this thread ? Wucas ? Or make it close for the moment ?
My turf!!
And I'm back on track!
-Jawarisin
PS:The whole thing made no sense whatsoever, the banning message even said "Apparent DoS". Seems like that's why it was just a short temp-ban.
Story gets worst every time someone says it. No, apparently it was a DoS with my home IP (no vpn or anything), pinging the server at an incredible rate of once per 3 seconds. There was never no DDoS in there.
Shakugan is one of those show's which is perpetually on my watch-list. I start it, but I can't quite keep going, but it's not ban ennough to make me remove it. Personnaly I think there is way better animes to watch before that one.
As for Tasogare, I havn't seen the special OVA, so I can't help you there.
Sorry, not much I can add to those.
I saw your thread saying you liked harem school w/e. Ichigo 100% would be something for you.
Just a reminder, I'm still checking on this thread!
I need an anime like;
Love Live School Idol Project
Idol Master
AKB0048
Pretty Rhythm
Aikatsu
Koi-ken
etc..
If you cant find anything then someone recommend what I should watch next from my Planned To Watch list.
http://myanimelist.net/animelist/KirakuSenpai
Thanks *\(^o^)/*
Not as joyfull, but somewhat similar, deals with relationship with an idol, White Album. Season 2 is currently airing too.
For some reason, princess jellyfish comes to my mind also.
Beck deals with music also, but it's not on the same kind of tone. It's definelty slightly darker, and doesn't only involve girls.
Nana also deals with music, although it's more complicated. Good story though, you'll get hooked.
As of your to-watch list, nothing in there really marked me, Seto no Hanayome (something like that at least) can be funny at first, but that's about it, everything else left me a mild impression.
though "Animes" is not incorrect, the appropriate plural to Anime is still Anime..
I've seen White album. I prefer the current White Album season as it's more modern in society. I've also watch Princess jellyfish didn't really like it. I watch a trailer for Nana. Now that I think about it, I do remember watching about a year ago. About two girls with different personalties I think I dropped it because I wasn't into it. I might try it again though.
I'll check out Seto no Hanayome today. Thanks for the help *\(^o^)/*
some one explain to me wtf is goin on with samurai flamenco
Anyone else think that Guilty Crown has some of the best music in anime? :D
how good is log horizon compared to SAO
I'm personally not a fan of Log Horizon. For a second there, around episode 4-6 or so, I thought it had some potential, but it has failed me since then. I haven't given up on it though. To watch it, i'd wait till more episodes get out, or you might get deceived or placed with false hopes.
As for the actual question, SAO has more of a personality to it. The fast paced story, the way the main character is some overpowered guy, and not a whimpy you-know-what. You won't find that uniqueness in Log Horizon. It's like a wanna-be mix of Death Note smartness and SAO / .hack concept. Still enjoyable though, but as I said earlier, I wouldn't quite watch it yet without waiting a bit. It's most likely (99%) a downgrade from SAO, but how far down is up to the creators, since the ending hasn't came out yet, you never know what could happen, it could turn out to be magnificent... who knows.
