Suggestion title: Event Column on Forums!


Suggestion description: I was thinking that we can add a little Column on Freestylersworld.com which is our forum which column will indicate on forums whether the Event (InGunZ) is going on or not..it will be very helpful for players to know about events and will be helpful. now if we think in the way that if we add this column then players will come online for only attend events then it is also profitable that players will come online by this indication.
The indicator can be very little that only 2 lights can be there RED or GREEN RED will indicate the event is not going on and Green will indicate the event is going on! now we can also add Which host is hosting the event but my basic suggestion is about that indicator.

I like the idea though there will be a countdown timer on FGunZ.net until the next event but that function wouldn't hurt as well.

Yeah! see the only point is all the process will go very easily and players and server both will be having profit by this thing.It will surely be a good point for everyone :)

i'll look into the event list and see if I can fix your idea on forum/ingame.

Its Good suggestion.We could add this function, And if possible can we add another column which shows timings for events like

Lms Event will be held in (month/date/year)(Countdown Timer)
H&S event will be held in (month/date/year)(countdown Timer)

ET's don't have a schedule for their events, they host spontaneously;
with that being said, this can only apply to VIP events I guess

Edit: I agree with Taint, think this idea suits better with VIP but that would make it pointless cause VIP can see the timer + thread in the VIP section.

Yeah i felt that you misread it.. :) okay sure :) see VIP's get those alerts or hints about events but normal players dont get them + yeah i agree with icefrog if our ET sort something out and make a TimeTable for Normal events then it could be very helpful for ET + players.. :)

OT; Yes we host whenever we're available. I don't see how making a timer would work because I just use gifcountdown.com which works perfectly fine.

Guys i think we are going off topic lets just first stick to an Indicator column on Freestylersworld.com about if the event is going on or no (InGunz)

Remember last In-game VIP event ? You missed up the timer with 1 hour
and you say it works perfectly fine ?

OT: Maybe a small box to that says If there's and event going on right now , and Event Team member have control over it Like Making it Green means there's an event in game , Red no event atm.

Totally agree with you..a small box or 2 small lights and ET will have control over it..

would require a check if a room in the event channel is present, not that easily done as you think.

This means there must be a fixed time periods of events which will be hosting in game it should have its timings updated in forums so we could join event perfectly.

it is easy i guess..its on us how we code it..

1- if we give total access to ET of this indicator then all they have to do is to just turn it ON Or Off! and if you're talking about connecting the Event Channel To the forum then it could be done as same as we can see how many players are online in the game..its on us how we wanna make it effectively and efficiently.. :)

Instead, we can just make it changeable by staff members.
Toggle it on/off on the chatbox, way easier than your option.

i think it should be for every player..VIP's too enjoy events which hosts normally for everyone and its not about ''the regular events are nothing but spontaneous'' but its about fun and i never wanna miss fun here which i get in events..

you got a point that they dont have any particular time..that's what m talking about..they dont have any particular time but if they are getting hosted then we will be able to know it on forums very easily :)

Well - I don't think it should be for VIP Events simply because VIP Events are threaded and usually include a countdown gif (as Michi said)
For players who aren't a VIP but do have a forum account (regular members) I think that it would be beneficial towards them because they would be able to know when an Event is going on. It isn't that hard to think about the ideology behind "when"..

@Leon - I understand that you think that Events are randomly done but truth be told I bet if you look at the logs, they're mainly done every 3-5 hours... So I'm sure that the Hosters would not mind having to click a button to enable/disable a light or some sort of text that represents when an Event is taking place.

Also, like spice said - You're thinking about this way too much... It's just an idea.

Should have changed the opacity button but that's how it would work I guess though they should be on the right side after the online status;

I just wrote what I think, maybe you're right. (about the reg events)
But I still think it's hosted quite randomly.

The thing you can add is somekind of a 15-30 min advance "notice" that event is about to be hosted.
(which'll the host will turn on & off if he wants to use)

Not everyone (decent players) are always online, they mostly browse the forums and I don't see why VIP's should have that option (only visible to them) if there's already specific section for them along with a countdown timer while the regular members don't have anything and adding On/Off buttons wouldn't hurt at all, would it?

And what if players who like to regularly participate in Events are not in-game and do not see this notice?
There is a more likelihood of spice's idea being more beneficial towards players who are on the forum.

Yeah thats it..what if someone misses the notice..ET can spend 1 min to turn this indicator On or Off and it will be more beneficial!
Benifits of this idea -
1 - If the events is taking place players will be aware about it on forums.
2 - after creating this indicator i think more players will come online.
3 - after knowing that something like this is coded and being held on forums, more forum members will register.
4 - more registered members = more players and community will get big :)

Not quite sure I understand what you're saying but if you're asking if we have schedule or should have one;

No we dont have a schedule, we host whenever we feel like it. I hosted 3 events (LMS, RFLS, FTD) less than 2 hours ago and I picked the events one by one. I cant have a schedule on when to host, I have a life outside GunZ and I dont want any scenario to be like, "oh my friends just came over to my place, but I cant join them because I have a schedule that tells me to host in 20 minutes".

I also dont want to be forced to host something I "cant" host or something I'm just not particulary good at. Also some events requires more than one person to make it work. So I we would have to match our schedules? Idk. Anyways, terrible idea for regular events, and its already a thing for VIP events.

It's just a simple button to enable if an EVENT is going on.

He mentioned a schedule, that's what I responded to.

Well enabling a button on the forum before hosting the event couldn't hurt right? Like enable it 10 minutes before you start the event and it'l give people on the forum some time to finish things up and join the event channel (Doesn't require a scedule for the ET's). Only that should be enough for the normal events.

Or make it easier, let ET's post a message in the chatbox when their hosting.

See this idea is very easy to come in present and to take place on forums..it can be for long time on forums and it will be very very beneficial to everyone..trust me the indicator will really be great idea and you're talking about just to post in chat box..i say we are used to use chatbox..we will get something new feature on forums and it will also look forum beautiful :D it wont hurt to anyone just to code two lights :)

That was a simple show-off though I will talk to Dave and make sure to make it a bit more neat for instance;
- Mobile Chat - FGunZ Statistics - Event On/Off (either with text or the two buttons I posted earlier) so it's more understandable, we will see.

Yeah have some talk with Dave :) you made it very easy and understandable..now its up to you guys whether you make it Just two lights or Text..i say two lights will be way better than text..text will consume space..those two Dot Lights will not take much..yeah Event On/Off can also work.. :) we can make On Green And Off Red!!

I can see how this can be beneficial and I get the point of it all. In my honest opinion, it's not really needed. If you want to see if there is an event going on just go in-game, it's not that hard. Turning on a button for the few members who actually check the forum regularly is just not something I see happening. Hell if you ask us if we're gonna host, we'll tell you *Unless you spam us* Also if it does get implemented, I feel like it wouldn't be used much, especially by me, just because I'm use to the way how I start hosting and finish up hosting. I feel like if I ever did turn the button on, I'd just forget about turning it off and leave it on until another staff member turns it off.

Good idea, not a fan though just because of those personal things.

Let the /admin_wall enable <ZChat> and say whatever the host will say (this will also prevent them from spamming useless wall notices) :o.o just like for when someone wins a limit breaker

The v8 website/client will have an event timer displayed, I will probably just link the image posted earlier in this thread to that so it will be green or display a message when an event is going on. But like I said that's for v8 so I will not implement it at this time.

I'll try to make it look neat specifically for the chatbox for the V8 design @ forums.

A question to you guys, would you prefer two buttons a GREEN/RED one or maybe a specific button that says "Event" and another one near it that specifies "None - OR - Live (feel free to suggest words)" ?

i think there should be
Event On - Off
is event is going on then On will throw green light and off will go gray and when event is not going on then Off will throw red light and On will go grey.how about this?

On-going would be used for On and none would be used for Off, I'll have to discuss with it with Dave but wanted to know opinions on design.

^yeah this idea is very good that we will only use On and None for indicating it :) it will be simple and nice :)

Now that you guys discussed this and changed it to a button to where an event is going on or not, I'll use it sure.

it will be a new thing..once you started using it you will never forget to do so :)

Just for the convenience of foreign people (that aren't that good at english) it would be easier to understand what it is for if it is displayed in colours (so just 2 buttons would be most suitable for that).
